The Ryzen 2000 series CPUs are out! In this video I got my hands on a Ryzen 2600X CPU for testing and to use in my main gaming and video editing PC. Before building this system, I had actually been using my old ASUS gaming laptop (4th generation i& + GTX 860M) so this was a HUGE upgrade for me. The Ryzen 2600 and 2600X series CPUs are the most bang for the buck processor options out there right now. They are nearly the same CPU, 6 cores and 12 threads with 16MB of L3 cache. The only real difference is that the X version of the Ryzen CPUs means that the CPU was better binned which results in higher clock rates, better voltage to clock ratios, and possibly higher overall overclocks! This build went together fast and I didn't run into many issues other than forgetting to order my AM4 mounting kit for the Noctua NH-D15 that I had planned to install. You can check out my video for mounting that monster of a heatsink here. After getting the rig all setup I was very happy with the performance in gaming and encoding - this was a good step up in performance in both tasks. The average sale price at release is right around the $230 mark for the X series CPU and ~$200-$210 for the non X variant. If you plan on overclocking or manually tuning the clock speeds yourself, the regular 2600 non X version is the best value. If you really need that extra 100MHz on average core boost, then maybe the X version is something you can justify those $20 to $30 extra dollars on. Just like the the 1600/X, this processor would be my first pick for a solid middle to upper middle range gaming or video editing production based PC.

Looking to build a Gaming PC!? Here's a gaming PC I built for a friend (2018). This is a mid range gaming PC that doesn't break the bank and is portable enough to take with you to LAN partys! This gaming rig features the Ryzen 1500X CPU and an MSI B350M Gaming motherboard. The B350M is a perfect mATX motherboard for a smaller setup like this. Making sure that we optimize performance, we opted to get a 16GB kit of the G.Skill Aegis 3000MHz CL16 RAM. As is the standard now-a-days, a 120GB SSD will be used for the OS boot drive and any programs that require speed then a larger spinning hard drive for games and applications. Powering all of the rig will be a Seasonic M12-II EVO 520W. This will comfortably power the CPU and GPU leaving a bit of overheard or room for component upgrades for both the CPU and GPU. To round out this bang for the buck system, the Corsair Cabide 200R case was our best bet. This case allowed for good airflow, looked slick, and was the right price.

Today I will be building or should I say, re-building my main Ryzen based gaming and video editing PC. I'm coming from a Ryzen 2600X rig to a new Ryzen 3000 series chip, the Ryzen 3600. This time around for the ULTIMATE 6 core 12 thread value king of CPUs I opted for the non-X version of the chip. Based on the average overclocks, there was not enough value in the X series to justify the cost in this build. This build is geared towards a budget minded 1080p high or 1440p low-mid range gaming and editing build. The RX 580 8GB graphics card is honestly the only limiting factor here keeping this 3600 CPU from being even more of a gaming monster (for the money, ~197$ US when posted). In the near future, a bang for the buck 1070 will be coming my way to amp up the gaming experience. It's important to note that any of the current generation Intel and AMD CPUs need a faster storage drive for the main OS in order to really feel like an upgrade. Check your main OS drive and see how it compares with the Samsung 960 EVO drive: https://amzn.to/2HfOblN
